Is it true that eyebrow shaping is not haram?

Fatwa issued by Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, who states:

“The word used in the Hadith is nams in Arabic, which means plucking the eyebrows. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) considered plucking as distorting the creation of Allah. This was the practice resorted to by prostitutes in the time of pre-Islamic jahiliyya (ignorance) and it is still used by women of loose morals.

However, scholars who have studied the issue in detail have concluded that if a person's eyebrows are unusually thick or unwieldy, then he or she can straighten them out. This is not considered nams or plucking. Allah wants us to look neat and tidy, and by trying to appear neat and tidy we are not distorting Allah's creation, rather we are only enhancing it.”Is it true that eyebrow shaping is not haram?
Why on earth would Prophet Muhammad curse women who pluck the eyebrows pray Muslims, do tell ?If indeed he is the one of the greatest men that had ever lived , why is he nitpicking on what's on a woman's face ?Is it true that eyebrow shaping is not haram?
Its haram CHI CHI
Well, that's just...fascinating.

In the words of the great obfuscator, mzxptlk... who really gives a rats butt?

Hast thou nothing of greater value to entertain thy mind?
sister it's haram.why?the prophet said it .look at the hadith which violet written it in arabic.it's the proof.u chage the creation of allah
Yes that's good thanks. They can straigten or lighten it but they can't pluck it like they do nowadays. What's the big fuss about? You gave us information and im sure there right. Thank's. don't worry aslong as you do the right then your fine. stop worrying so much : - ) Good day
A woman is not permitted to remove the hair of her eyebrows by plucking nor to modify them by a thread, razor, scissors or anything else, since such an action is considered a form of a prohibited Nams (plucking the eyebrows). The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) cursed those women who does such an action, whether it be to herself or to others.

In Sahih books of al-Bukhari and Muslim 'Abdullah Ibn Masoud reported that: ';Allah has cursed female tattoo makers - and those females who get tattooed, and those women who have their superfluous hair plucked from their faces and those who get that hair plucked, and those women who get their teeth filed (to make space between them) for beauty, and thus interfere in Allah's Creation'; .

BUT IN rare cases, when a woman is looking really ugly due to it and her husband dislikes her looks coz of the thick eye brows, then she can get them trimmed a little.

Allah is aware of our intentions always

Rest Allah knows the best~!
it depends...you're supposed to not have manly chanaracters like beards and mustaches so removing that is okay...eyebrows is more difficult....most who say its okay say only between the eyebrows, beause unibrows are considered ma-like...now adays big eyebrows are in....but not like a forest....it depends on your eyebrows really...

Question AOA

I have very bushy eyebrows and it makes me look very unattractive, I used to have them waxed to make them look more neat and feminine, but then after reading that it is wrong I stopped. My husband does not say anything but I know that he does not find me attractive like this, can I just remove enough so that they look more neat and like women eyebrows?

Answer: Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

You can trim or remove your eyebrows if they are too thick and difficult to manage. It is not forbidden. What is forbidden is to shape them in such a way that change your image or distort the image that Allah has given you. This is what is meant by the Hadith that forbids ';tabdil khalq Allah';.

Allah Almighty knows best.

I have read that it is but removing facial hair example mustache and beard on women is halal. No Tracy is right it is clearly stated in the Quran...however for this scholar there are many more that would debate him on this issue. My fiance was Hanafi school of thought there are five. We did not marry my husband is Egyptian and he would agree with the scholar you mention.
